The Chess Committee is a student-run group for anyone interested in the game of chess. We host casual chess nights, internal tournaments, themed workshops, and social events where students from all programs and years can come together, play, learn, and connect.
We’re now looking for a new Financial Manager to join our team and help keep our committee running smoothly and sustainably.
About the role:
As Financial Manager, you’ll have the responsibility of overseeing the committee’s finances. You’ll make sure our budget is balanced, funding is secured, and that all our activities are financially sustainable. You’ll work closely with the Manager and Event team to ensure resources are allocated smartly so we can keep growing and hosting great events.
Key tasks include:
- Creating and managing the committee’s budget
- Keeping track of income, expenses, and financial reports
- Assisting in applying for funding and sponsorships
- Collaborating with the Manager and Business Relations on financial planning
- Ensuring transparency and accountability in all financial matters
Who are you?
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is structured, responsible, and reliable
- Has an interest in budgeting and finance (no prior experience required – we’ll teach you the basics!)
- Enjoys working with numbers but also wants to contribute to the social side of the committee
- Wants practical experience in financial management that looks great on a CV
This is the perfect role if you want hands-on experience with budgeting and financial planning while being part of a fun and intellectually stimulating student community.
